1 gets 2nd and 2 gets 1st @ Dakota State Fair Speedway

2md Josh Skorczewski Passed 1s for the Win
2md Josh Skorczewski Passes 1s for the Win

Since Jamestown Speedway’s Test and Tune was cancelled out from the rain, the crew (Joey, Chase, Shawn and Scott) quickly changed the gears and heading out to the Dakota State Fair Speedway in Huron, SD to race their opening night.

The Dakota Engine Builder powered 1s started 5th in the 3rd heat.  The track was tacky and fast.   Scott was able to slowly move up the pack and get into the 2ndspot with 2 laps to go.  The leader had checked out and there just wasn’t enough laps to reel him in.

26 Midwest Modifieds started the feature.  The 2nd place heat finish put Scott Bintz starting in the 6thspot.  When the green flag dropped, Scott didn’t get the best start but quickly got into the groove, picking off a car every few laps.  He was able to do some passing in boththe high or low groove.   With 4 laps to go, Scott made the pass for the lead and bring pulling away from the pack.   On the finally lap, #2MD Josh Skorczewski reeled back in the Truxedo sponsored 1s machine and it was a drag race down the back stretch.  Coming out of 4, Josh passed Scott for the win.  Congrats to Josh for his 1st win of the season.  It was a fun trip and we did bring a 2nd trophy back from South Dakota.  It has found a home up in Minot, ND.  Casey Scott of Minot was all smiles when Scott gave him his new trophy.

Racing Results Update and Wissota 100 Here We Come

2009 Scott Bintz Racing Midwest Modified Summary
Heat Wins: 16 | Feature Wins: 4 | Top 5’s: 26 | Top 10’s: 11

9/6/09 Close to 40 Wissota Midwest Modified race cars showed up for the 2nd night of the Jamestown Speedways Double Header Labor Day Weekend Races.  Scott was in the 3rd heat and it was somewhat of a rough caution filled heat.  Scott made it to 4th from 7th to qualify for the feature in the 14th starting spot.  The feature was dry but racey.  Scott was moving up pretty good and got to about 5th when he hit the inside wall on corner 2 and spun.  Got sent tail end and Scott made it back to 11th.  Ryan Mikkelson won the feature followed by Josh Eberhardt and Landon Becker. DSFS Feature Win Pictures

Here are the pictures from the Wissota Midwest Modified Feature Win at Dakota State Fair Speedway on 8-1-09.  Scott was pretty shocked to make the double pass at the end for the win and the pictures show a smiling but seriously nervous racer.   Photo’s courtesy of Bradley Letcher of Chaos Photo.  Scott Bintz Racing is pleased to be running the Dakota Engine Builders Powered 2002 Hoffman Race Car this year.  The chassis is a little older but the Dakota Engine makes it very competative.

Lisbon 5, Miller 6 & Dakota State Fair Speedway 1

2009 Scott Bintz Racing Midwest Modified Summary
Heat Wins: 10 | Feature Wins: 3 | Top 5’s: 20 | Top 10’s: 8

For complete details and up to date results and stats, see the Racing Results page.

On 7/28/09 we headed to the Sheyenne River Speedway.  The heat was a little dry but has some tack.  Scott got up closed to 2nd and 3rd but couldn’t hold it.  Finished 4th in heat.  For the feature he moved up a car or so every few laps.  It was a rough track so there were a number of cautions.  Scott got up to 3rd at one point but lost it at the end.  Car was not set up the best for the track.  Back to the scales we go.   Eric Edwards won followed by Ryan Mikkelson and Nate Reinke.

Feature Winner 8-1-09 @ Dakota State Fair Speedway
Feature Winner 8-1-09 @ Dakota State Fair Speedway

For the weekend we headed to Miller Speedway in Miller, SD and then on to the Dakota State Fair Speedway in Huron, SD.  Since the Dakota State Fair Speedway is the site for the 2009 Wissota 100, Scott wanted to try out is midwest modified at the track before the big event .  On 7-31-09 at Miller Speedway the heat was heavy tack and fast.  Scott got beat on the start and ran 2nd the entire heat.  Feature was tacky with dry spots.  Scott moved up and was trying to pass for 2nd and spun out Kevin Bliese with 2 laps to go.  They were both trying to chase down Lorin Johnson.  Scott got sent tail end with 2 laps to go but he made it back to 6th.  Lorin Johnson won followed by Kevin Bliese.

On 8-1-09 at the Dakota State Fair Speedway the heat was fast and full throttle.  Scott moved up a car or two every few laps and made it to 2nd.  On a caution with 2 laps to go he made an attempt to win the heat but wasn’t able to make the pass.  The feature was tacky with dry spots but pretty fast all in all.  Scott made it to 3rd fairly quickly and then Ryan Mikkelson and Scott kept swapping 2nd and 3rd trying to chase down Kevin Bliese who was leading.  There were a number of cautions behind the three of them.  On the last caution, Mikkelson was really giving Bliese a run for his money but as luck would have it for the Scott Bintz Racing Team,  on the last corner, both of them went low and Scott went high and blasted ahead of both of them out of corner 4 for the win.  Bliese got 2nd followed by Mikkelson in 3rd.

On a side note, South Dakota is the state where one of our sponsors TruXedo manufacturers their line of rollup and hinging tonneau covers.
